Trump launches ‘Project Homecoming’ to expand deportation force

President Donald Trump has directed the Department of Homeland Security to hire an additional 20,000 officers as part of a new deportation initiative known as "Project Homecoming."

The initiative provides free flights and a "exit bonus" to undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the United States. Trump stated that the purpose is to facilitate self-deportation while warning of harsh penalties for those who remain, including imprisonment and asset seizure, as reported by BBC.

While the directive does not specify how the staffing expansion will be funded, Trump has asked for assistance from local and state law enforcement, as well as the National Guard, in carrying out the effort.
