Bagmati Province CM Lama calls it quits

Amid intra-party tussle in the Nepali Congress, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama has announced his resignation on Sunday.

He announced his resignation at a press conference organized at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Hetauda on Sunday.

He shared that although he went to submit his resignation this evening at the Office of the Provincial Chief in Hetauda, Provincial Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota was not present in the Office.

Chief Minister Lama is scheduled to submit his resignation letter to the Province Chief tomorrow.

After losing Parliamentary Party leader post to another leader Indra Bahadur Baniya on July 30, Chief Minister Lama resigned from his post.

Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba also directed Lama to step down after losing the post of parliamentary leader.

Chief Minister Lama, however, informed the media persons that he thought it was appropriate to establish political values and norms and work under the direction of party leadership. He was resigning in line with this spirit, Lama added.

CM Lama expressed commitment to move forward in agreement and cooperation under the leadership of the newly elected parliamentary party leader in the Province Assembly, Indra Bahadur Baniya.
