Two girls drowned in a pond at Surunga Municipality-2 in Saptari district today.

The deceased have been identified as Sustika Chaudhary, a seven-year-old daughter of Surendra Chaudhary, and Ashaki Chaudhary, 11-year-old daughter of Keshar Chaudhary.

The incident occurred while they were taking a bath in the pond , shared Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Jitendra Kumar Basnet.

Locals informed the police about the incident. 

Further investigation into the incident is underway, added police.
