Nine major highways in three provinces have been blocked due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in various parts of the country on October 3 and 4.
Police Headquarters stated that nine highways in Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali Provinces have been blocked due to the disaster.
The Koshi Highway has been obstructed at Barunkhola-4, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality and at Ekuwa- 3, Makalu Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha district.
Floods and landslides have blocked the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali- 9 of Ilam Municipality, Ilam and the Tamor Corridor at Nawakhola- 2 of Tumbewa Rural Municipality, Panchthar, said the police central spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire.
Similarly, a section of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Ward No 2, Rasuwa, the BP Highway at Mamtikhola in Roshi Rural Municipality-11, Kavrepalanchok, and the BP Highway at Nepalthok in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1, Sindhuli, have also been blocked.
Spokesperson Ghimire said that the Karnali Corridor highway has been completely blocked at Kurilla-5 of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla and at Jugenikhola- 8, Pachaljharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot.
Police said one-way traffic has been opened on the Koshi Highway in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality- 1 of Dhankuta district and the Kanti Highway at Baguwakhola in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 and at Ghattepakha in Bakaia Rural Municipality-11 in Makwanpur district.
