The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order on a writ petition challenging the appointment of Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister.
The Constitutional Court, headed by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh, has asked Karki the reason for her appointment as the Prime Minister.
Advocate Dr Punya Prasad Khatiwadal filed a writ petition on Sunday, claiming that President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed former Chief Justice Karki as Prime Minister against the Constitution.
The writ petition states that Karki, who was appointed as the Prime Minister by the President on August 26 and took the oath as per Article 80, is in direct violation of Article 76/132 (2) of the Constitution.
The Office of the President has been made a defendant in the writ.
