An earthquake measuring 4.0 in the Richter scale struck Taplejung district on Tuesday. 

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center stated that the earthquake occurred at 2:47 this morning with its epicenter near the Kanchanjunga area in the district. 

The tremor was felt in the other districts of eastern Nepal.
