Several large explosions were heard in Iran’s capital, Tehran, with thick columns of smoke rising into the sky, said AP.

Explosions were also reported near the northern city of Rasht in Gilan province, raising fears of further strikes across the country.

It was not immediately clear what the targets were or who carried out the attacks.
