RSP candidate Thapa victorious in Sunsari-2

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Lal Bikram Thapa won the election to the House of Representatives from Sunsari 2.

Thapa secured victory with 57,348 votes, according to Rajendra Kumar Lamsal, an election officer. 

His closest contender was Nepali Congress' Rajiv Koirala who obtained 16,071 votes. 

Similarly, Sujan Lama of the Nepali Communist Party stood third with 8,303 votes while Chetan Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party got 7,484 votes.

Altogether 28 candidates including those of 19 political parties and nine independent ones were in electoral fray in this constituency. 

The constituency comprising 30 wards had listed 158,910 voters for the election. Among them, 101,004 cast their votes in the March 5 election.
