Over 3,800 votes turn invalid in Bhojpur

In the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives (HoR), over 3,800 votes turned invalid in Bhojpur district.

The District Returning Office informed that out of 57,599 votes cast under the First-Past-the-Post electoral system, 3,871 votes were found invalid.

This number accounts for 6.72 percent of the total votes.

Among the invalid votes, majority voters were found marking for more than one election symbol, according to Dikrendra Subedi, Chief of the District Returning Office.

He further shared that it appeared some voters either did not understand the voting process well or intentionally cast invalid votes.

There were a total of 125,766 registered voters in the district.

As vote counting for proportional representation is still ongoing, details of invalid votes to this category of electoral system are yet to be disclosed, the Election Office said.
