The CPN-UML has called for the immediate release of its Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli along with former Home Minister and leader of Nepali Congress Ramesh Lekhak.
According to Shankar Pokharel, General-Secretary of the CPN-UML, the meeting convened at party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur today morning demanded that both leaders should be released without delay,
The meeting presided over by party Vice Chairperson Ram Bahadur Thapa strongly condemned the arrests, stating that the detention of the two leaders goes against the democratic norms and the rule of the law.
Oli and Lekhak were arrested early this morning as per the recommendation made by a probe commission led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki.
The commission was formed to investigate the Gen-Z movement that occurred on September 8 and 9, 2025.
Furthermore, the meeting also called for the formation of a high-level investigation commission under the leadership of the Supreme Court Justice to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the Gen-Z movement.
