The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast a significant rise in water levels in small rivers and streams across 30 districts in the country today.
The Department has warned of a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers and streams in Taplejung, Ilam, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Morang, Sunsari, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok and Kavrepalanchok.
Likewise, water level is also expected to rise in small rivers and streams in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Kaski, Myagdi, Baglung, Banke, Jajarkot, Rukum East, Rukum West, Surkhet, Darchula, Baitadi, Achham, Doti and surrounding districts.
People residing along the riverbanks and low-lying areas in those areas have been urged to remain vigilant, regularly follow updated weather and flood advisories, and take necessary precautions.
Department's flood expert Binod Parajuli has also urged local governments and bodies concerned to continuously monitor the water levels of nearby rivers, disseminate timely information to communities, and remain prepared to respond to any potential flood-related emergencies.
