Radio Annapurna Nepal 94.0 MHz has started broadcasting news bulletins using an AI (Artificial Intelligence) presenter from Wednesday, becoming one of the Nepali radio stations to adopt AI-assisted news delivery.

Annapurna Media Network (AMN) said that it launched a new AI initiative under “Voice of Annapurna News and Intelligence” (VANI) to empower the media through advanced technology.

The bulletins are aired  daily at 11 am and 5 pm.

AMN said that this will be expanded gradually, and AI technology will be used responsibly across other platforms as well.

“Annapurna has started a new initiative to provide factual news to citizens by combining technology and journalism. It  has welcomed the technologies currently being used in the developed countries of the world,” Annapurna Post media Editor-in-Chief Bal Krishna Basnet said.

AMN on July 27 had  launched Sampurna, an AI-powered media super app developed in collaboration with AKIN. 

The ‘Sampurna’ super app was developed by incorporating the features and services that people use in their daily lives.

Built on artificial intelligence technology, the app provides users with the latest news along with real-time updates on gold and silver prices, foreign exchange rates, fuel prices, and weather conditions. 

The platform also features daily, monthly, and yearly horoscopes, birth chart services, a Nepali calendar with Panchang and festival information

One can also note down the scheduled events in the calendar.

Users can also customize various features of the super app according to their preferences.

This  app is Annapurna Media’s first digital platform of its kind in Nepal.
