The United States ambassador to Israel advised Americans to leave through Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula as tensions escalate. Ambassador Mike Huckabee said the embassy was receiving numerous evacuation requests while staff remained sheltered in place, according to AP.

In a social media post early Tuesday, Huckabee warned there were “very limited options” for departure. He said it was unclear when Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv would reopen.

He recommended that Americans travel by bus to Egypt’s southern Sinai resorts, including Sharm el-Sheikh and Taba, describing that route as the best available option, AP wrote

Airstrikes targeting an air base in Kerman killed at least 13 troops, local media reported. The attack struck the Kerman Air Base, located about 800 kilometers southeast of Tehran.

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency and the Hammihan daily newspaper said the casualties were confirmed following the strike. 

Further details about the timing and extent of the damage were not immediately available, according to AP.

The Kerman Air Base is known to house military helicopters and other equipment.

Oman said a drone struck a fuel tank at its port in Duqm on Tuesday, raising security concerns in the region, wrote AP. Authorities confirmed the incident but provided limited details about the source of the attack.

The state-run Oman News Agency reported that no injuries were recorded in the strike. Duqm has served as a key resupply route for the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is currently operating in the Arabian Sea, highlighting the port’s strategic importance amid rising regional tensions.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested with an INSAS rifle and ammunition from Bhumdol in Suryabinayak Municipality-8, Bhaktapur. A special team from the Intelligence Bureau of the Armed Police Force detained Ayan Sedhai, a resident of Palungtar Municipality-9, Gorkha.

Security officials said they recovered four rounds of rifle and SLR bullets, two rounds of plastic bullets, one round of shotgun bullet, a khukuri, two cartridges, an axe and five syringes from his possession. Authorities are investigating the source of the weapons and ammunition.

The suspect has been handed over to the Nepal Police for further action, according to Armed Police Force spokesperson DIG Bishnu Prasad Bhatta. Officials suspect the rifle and ammunition may have been looted during the GenZ movement.

According to AP, Thailand is intensifying security around the embassies of the United States, Israel and Iran as tensions rise in the Middle East. Authorities said additional safety measures are being put in place amid fears of potential spillover.

Public broadcaster Thai PBS quoted National Security Council chief Chatchai Bangchua as saying officials will also monitor sites linked to the three countries to prevent possible threats.

Thailand, one of Asia’s most-visited destinations, relies heavily on tourism and welcomed more than 32m foreign visitors last year. The country remains a popular destination for Americans, Israelis and Gulf nationals, and previously received dozens of direct flights each week from the Middle East before recent airspace closures, AP wrote.

The Israel Defense Forces said its soldiers are operating in southern Lebanon as strikes continue against Hezbollah. Troops are stationed at several points near the border in what the military described as a “forward defense posture.”

The army said the deployment aims to boost security for residents in northern Israel close to the Lebanese frontier. It has also reinforced forces and air defense systems in the area amid ongoing hostilities.

Israel has maintained five positions in southern Lebanon since a November 2024 ceasefire ended more than a year of fighting with Hezbollah. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said the new deployment is separate from those posts and is intended to prevent attacks on Israeli border towns.

All the voting centers in Kaski district received the election materials by Monday. 

The Province Election Office in Kaski shared that the election materials including ballot papers were supplied to all 365 voting centers for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (HoR).

The Gandaki Province Election Officer, Narayan Dhakal, said that the voting officers and assistant voting officers received the election materials. 

"Entire preparations for polls are over and only voting is left. The voting officers and assistant voting officers reached the voting centres by collecting election materials including ballot papers," Dhakal added.   

Voting Officer of Chandra Jyoti Voting Centre in Pokhara Metropolitan City-32, Gunaraj Adhikari, shared that his team reached the voting centre on Monday evening with all election materials. He viewed that the officials deployed for the polls are highly excited with high morale. 

"We will organize an all-party meeting, issue election related notices and other tasks on Tuesday and Wednesday," Adhikari said. 

In Kaski, a total of 153 voting stations and 363 voting centres and two temporary voting centers have been fixed. 

Likewise, altogether 2,190 officials have been deployed for the election in Kaski district.

The Kaski Prison House and the Office of the District Coordination Committee have been set up as temporary voting centers. 

The temporary voters are the civil employees, prisoners and inmates, and the security personnel. 

They are planning to cast votes under the proportional representation system for the March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) elections from the temporary voting centers.

Yeti Airlines has planned to cancel all flights scheduled for the House of Representatives election scheduled for 5 March.

The company has issued a notice stating that there won’t be any flights on that day. Though the Election Commission has decided to continue domestic flights this time and other flights can operate the service if they want.

According to Yeti Airlines, flights will be regular from 6 March. Shuttle bus facilities will be available for air passengers in Kathmandu.
