Twelve miners have been killed by a Russian drone strike in eastern Ukraine, the country's largest private energy firm have said, BBC reported. 

DTEK said a bus carrying workers after a shift in the Dnipropetrovsk region had been targeted in Sunday's attack. At least 15 people were injured, State Emergency Services said.

Earlier, at least two others were killed and nine injured in separate Russian attacks overnight and on Sunday, according to BBC. 

Lord Mandelson says he has resigned his membership of the Labour Party as he does not want to "cause further embarrassment" by his links to the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, BBC reported. 

The former cabinet minister, who was sacked as US ambassador last year because of his past connections to Epstein, appeared in the latest release of files by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

Documents suggest Epstein made $75,000 (£55,000) in payments to Lord Mandelson in three separate $25,000 transactions in 2003 and 2004, according to BBC. 

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a directive order for the implementation of right to social justice at all layers of government- federal, provincial and local.

A full text of the directive order issued by a division bench of Justices Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma and Mahesh Sharma Paudel has been released recently. 

The order was, however, issued seven months back. 

The apex court has reminded the governments that it enforced citizen's right to social justice as enshrined in Article 42 of the Constitution of Nepal.

"Adopt constant and active engagement to translate the provisions in Article 42 of the Constitution in letter and spirit," asked the SC to all bodies under the federal, provincial and local governments. 

The order had come in response to a writ petition filed by Khajanti Mahto Nuniya from Phatuwa Bijaypur municipality of Rautahat district making defendants to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister, the Parliament Secretariat and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

Article 42 of the Constitution has explicitly mentioned the rights to the marginalized communities which are socioeconomically and educationally backward. Such groups are women, Dalit, indigenous, Madhesi, Tharu, Muslim, minorities, people with disabilities, sexual and gender minorities and the oppressed ones. 

In order for the protection, elevation and empowerment of such communities, the State is obliged to provide education, shelter, health, foods and social securities. They deserve special opportunities to live a dignified life, the SC underlined in the order.

Nepal welcomed 92,573 foreign tourists in the first month of the year 2026. 

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the number of foreign travelers in January this year is 15.7 percent more compared to January 2025.

The number of Indian tourists visiting Nepal in a month was the highest among visitors. 

The NTB shared that 26,624 tourists arrived in Nepal in January. 

Likewise, 9,101 tourists arrived in Nepal from China, 8,406 tourists arrived from the USA and 4,957 tourists from Australia. 

It is shared that SAARC countries comprised 39.3 percent of total visitors in the review period, while 26.1 percent tourists visited Nepal from other Asian countries, 12.3 percent from Europe, 10.8 percent from America and 5.7 percent from Oceania.

The Communist Party of Nepal has unveiled its election manifesto, addressing critical issues such as the necessity for state economic policies aimed at enhancing the living conditions of impoverished citizens. 

During a press conference held today, the manifesto was presented for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, with General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' in attendance. 

As the party engages in elections for the first time after transitioning to peaceful politics, it has vowed to eradicate capitalist, comprador, and imperialist practices and to bridge the divide between the affluent and the underprivileged. 

On the occasion, party General Secretary Chand asserted that education and healthcare must be universally accessible, employment opportunities should be guaranteed, and the private sector should not impose arbitrary fees or operate without regulation. 

He highlighted the importance of making agriculture self-sufficient, increasing investments in science and technology, and attracting youth to these sectors. 

The party is dedicated to fostering national prosperity through enhanced trade and investment, he said. .

Nepal has expressed its gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for granting pardon to 267 Nepali inmates there.

"The Government of Nepal conveys its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the pardon so generously granted to the 267 Nepali inmates on the auspicious occasion of the 54th National Day (Eid Al Etihad) of the UAE," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release today.

The Government of Nepal highly values the friendly and humanitarian gesture of pardon as the manifestation of friendship, goodwill and cordiality in the existing bilateral relations between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates, it added.

According to the Ministry, the decision of the pardon was taken by the government of the UAE in response to the repeated requests made by the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi as per the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The press release stated that the pardoned Nepali citizens, provided they have no other pending legal cases or restrictions, will be able to return to Nepal upon completion of the requisite legal procedures as stipulated by the prevailing laws of the UAE.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formed a 51-member Federal Election Execution Committee under coordination of its Vice Chairperson Dol Prasad Aryal for the elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.

According to General-Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the Committee was formed as per the Central Committee’s decision in order to launch election-centric activities.  

Shankar Shrestha is member-secretary of the Committee.  

The party also appointed province coordination secretary on provincial basis as well as internal coordination sub-committee, administrative coordination sub-committee and communication coordination sub-committee.

A passenger bus rolled off a road in southern Turkey’s Antalya province on Sunday, killing eight people and injuring 26 others, some critically, provincial officials said to AP. The accident occurred in Dosemealti district, northwest of Antalya city.

AP reported, State broadcaster TRT aired images showing the bus lying on its side on an embankment along a highway slip road. The bus was traveling overnight from Tekirdag in northwestern Turkey, and some passengers were reportedly thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
