EC decides to withhold election results of Dhanusha-1

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to withhold the election results of Dhanusha-1.

As per the Commission's directive, a letter was dispatched today to the office of the Election Officer for Dhanusha 1, Section Officer (Law) Arun Adhikari said.

The Commission had previously decided to annul the candidacy of Kishori Sah 'Kamal', the candidate from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for Dhanusha 1 on March 2 after uncovering evidence that his name appeared on the blacklist of the Credit Information Bureau.

Given that the matter concerning this decision is currently under review by the Supreme Court, the Commission'slatest directive requests that the results of the first-past-the-post election for Dhanusha 1 remain unannounced until the court issues an order.

The letter was sent to the Provincial Election Office for notification, asking it to relay the information to the appropriate Election Officer’s office and to keep the Commission updated, according Adhikari.
