HoR elections: Vote counting underway in 160 constituencies, 15 RSP candidates declared winners

In the ongoing vote count for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has so far won in 15 constituencies.

According to the results until 6 am, RSP's candidates are leading in 102 constituencies in the votes tally.

Election results have been so far declared in 20 constituencies so far, the EC stated.

The Election Commission has announced that RSP candidates Santosh Rajbanshi from Morang Constituency-4, Rubina Acharya from Morang 6, Manish Jha from Dhanusha 3, Ranju Neupane from Kathmandu 1, Rajunath Pandey from Kathmandu 3, Pukar Bam from Kathmandu 4, Sasmit Pokharel from Kathmandu 5, Ganesh Parajuli from Kathmandu 7, Birajbhakta Shrestha from Kathmandu 8, Dol Prasad Aryal from Kathmandu 9, Pradeep Bista from Kathmandu 10, Uttam Prasad Paudel from Kaski 2, Bina Gurung from Kaski 3, Kanhaiya Baniya from Rupandehi 4 and Suresh Kumar Chaudhary from Banke 1 have been victorious.

Vote counting is currently underway in 160 out of a total of 165 constituencies under the first-past-the-post (direct) election system.

The Nepali Congress has won in three constituencies. Tek Bahadur Gurung has won in Manang 1, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali in Mustang 1, and Basana Thapa in Dailekh 1. In the ongoing vote counting, the Nepali Congress candidates are leading in 11 constituencies.

The coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has already won the HoR Member election from Rukum East 1. The NCP candidates are leading in 11 areas in the ongoing vote count.

Similarly, the CPN-UML candidates are leading in 12 electoral constituencies. The party's Mohammad Ishtiyak Rai has won the election in Banke electoral constituency No. 1. 

The candidates of the Shram Sanskriti Party are leading in three constituencies while the candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party in one place, and an independent candidate in one place.

 

 

RSP candidates Pokharel, Aryal win HoR seats in Kathmandu-5 and 9

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidates have won the House of Representatives (HoR) election from Kathmandu electoral constituency 5 and 9.

Sasmit Pokharel has been elected as the member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu- 5.

According to the final results of the HoR Member elections held on Thursday, Pokharel has won by securing 30,737 votes. The newly elected MP Pokharel's closest competitor from the Nepali Congress, Pradeep Paudel, received 9,159 votes.

According to the Election Commission's office, Ishwar Pokharel of the CPN-UML has received 4,701 votes in the election. 

Kamal Thapa of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has received 1,729 votes, Shriram Gurung of the Ujyalo Nepal Party has received 1,100 votes, and Amit Thapa of the Shram Sanskriti Party has received 711 votes.

A total of 25 candidates, including various political parties and independents, were in the fray in this constituency.

Newly elected MP Pokharel said after being declared the winner that they are extremely grateful for the trust shown by the voters and stated that this result is not a personal victory but a great responsibility towards the citizens of the constituency.

Similarly, RSP Vice Chairman Dol Prasad Aryal has won the HoR election from Kathmandu- 9 by securing 35,093 votes.

His closest competitor, Nanumaya Bastola of the Nepali Congress, has received 5,460 votes.

According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Ajaya Kranti Shakya of the CPN-UML received 4,580 votes, Dilkumar Karki of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 1,457 votes, and Radha Krishna Maharjan of the Nepali Communist Party received 1,328 votes.

According to the final results of the Thursday-concluded HoR member election, 24 candidates, including various political parties and independents, were competing in that electoral area.

Shahi of NCP elected HoR member from Kalikot

Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, the candidate from the Nepali Communist Party, has won the House of Representatives (HoR) Member election in Kalikot. According to the results of the election held on Thursday, Shahi won by securing 11,338 votes.

His closest competitor, Nagendra Shahi of the CPN-UML had received 10,352 votes while Harsha Bahadur Bam of the Nepali Congress had received 7,933 votes.

The Office of the Chief Election Officer, Kalikot, has reported that Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) received 4,599 votes, Prakash Neupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party received 2,137 votes, and Nanda Bahadur Shahi of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party received 597 votes.

 

NC’s Acharya victorious in HoR election in Rasuwa

Mohan Acharya of the Nepali Congress has won the House of Representatives (HoR) election from Rasuwa. Chief Election Officer Dhruba Kumar Upreti said that Acharya won by receiving 10,656 votes.

Acharya's closest contender, Basanta Bhatta of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), received 5,571 votes and came second, while Prem Tamang from the CPN-UML received 3,688 votes and came third.

Similarly, Man Bahadur Tamang of Ujyalo Nepal Party received 1,453 votes, Madhav Prasad Lamichhane of the Nepali Communist Party received 953 votes, Binod Thing of the National Mongol Organisation received 474 votes, Hari Prasad Ghimire of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 60 votes, Hom Prasad Acharya of CPN (Maoist Biplav) received 50 votes, and Dawa Sangmo Tamang of the Pragatisheel Lokatantrik Party received 10 votes.

Independent candidate Chitra Kumari Devkota bagged 12 votes, Sagar Lama received 11 and Mingmar Tamang received three votes.

 

After being elected as a member of the House of Representatives, Acharya stated that he would prioritise the overall development of Rasuwa. He expressed his commitment to identify the immediate necessary plans and gradually meet the needs of the people.

RSP’s Bista, Parajuli win HoR seats in Kathmandu-10 and 7

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidates have won the House of Representatives (HoR) elections from Kathmandu-10 and 7.

Pradeep Bista has won the election in Kathmandu-10. He received 37,469 votes. 

His closest contender, Himal Karki of the Nepali Congress, received 8,100 votes according to the Office of the Election Officer. 

Election Officer Amrita Kumari Sharma said 2,093 votes were invalid out of the total votes cast.

The newly elected MP Bista was born in 2031 BS in Kirtipur Municipality-4. He was also a candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party in the previous House of Representatives election.

Similarly, RSP candidate Ganesh Prajuli has become victorious in the HoR election from Kathmandu-7.

According to the Election Commission, Parajuli has received 27,805 votes. 

Election Officer Sabita Sharma said that Parajuli's closest contender, Pramod Hari Guragain of the Nepali Congress received 3,982 votes, Prakash Shrestha of the CPN-UML received 3,544, and Basant Prasad Manandhar of the Nepali Communist Party received 3,367 votes.

In that electoral constituency, 27 candidates, including various political parties, were contesting.

 

RSP’s Rajunath Pandey wins in Kathmandu-3

Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Rajunath Pandey has won the election in Kathmandu-3 by defeating Kulman Ghising of Ujyalo Nepal Party. 

Pandey won the election by getting 18,757 votes against his nearest rival Ghising, who got 11,171 votes, Returning Officer Chamila Bhattarai said. 

In the vote count, Ramesh Aryal of Nepali Congress got 6,000 votes and Rameshwor Phuyal of CPN-UML received 3,816 votes. 

Meanwhile, Ghising has said that the result of the election has inspired him to be more responsible and proactive for the service of the country and people in the future. 

Writing on his social site after the announcement of the result, Ghising congratulated Pandey and expressed gratitude to his voters. 

He has promised to remain active for the country's development, good governance and prosperity in the coming days.

 

Congress candidate Acharya wins in Rasuwa

Nepali Congress candidate Mohan Acharya has won the House of Representatives election in Rasuwa.

He secured 10,656 votes, defeating Basanta Bhatta of the RSP, who received 5,571 votes.

UML candidate Prem Tamang came third with 4,688 votes.

Japan, Canada boost security ties

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her Canadian counterpart Mark Carney signed a strategic agreement in Tokyo to strengthen cooperation on defense, energy and economic security, according to AP.

The deal comes as tensions in the Middle East raise concerns over global oil supplies, particularly shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Both countries also agreed to start talks on a defense pact, expand military cooperation and launch new dialogues on economic security and cyber policy.
