Students of Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus set a government vehicle on fire on Sunday.

The vehicle was torched in front of the gate of the campus.

The students torched the vehicle (Ko 1 Jha 644) this morning.

Police said that a fire engine has been called to put off the fire.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.

Victims of cooperatives took out a rally in Kathmandu on Monday.

They took out a rally from Maitighar to New Baneshwor this afternoon demanding action against those involved in embezzling their deposits and recovery of their savings.

People swindled by cooperatives have also demanded that the agreements signed between the representatives of victims and the government be implemented at the earliest.

Schools in Birgunj metropolis have been closed for three days. Due to the rise in temperature in the area around Birgunj, the schools are going to be closed for three days from May 29 to 31.

With this decision, both community and private schools will suspend their classes for three days.

Arvindalal Karna, head of Birgunj Metropolitan City Educational Administration Division, said that due to the extreme heat, they decided to close the schools. He added that they were reported to close the schools for few days from parents, students and teachers. It is said that the decision was taken as heat-wave could significantly impact the students' and teachers' health while conducting the classes in schools.

According to the decision of Education Committee of the metropolis on April 29, it was decided to start classes from 6 am because of unfavorable weather (extreme heat) during the day time. The classes were conducted in the morning since May 2.

There are 92 community schools and 138 private schools in the metropolis.

Police have arrested Kantipur Media Group Chairman and Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya on Tuesday.

A joint police team led by SSP Sanu Ram Bhattarai and SP Rabindra Regmi apprehended Sirohiya from his Thapathali-based office this afternoon.

Earlier, ​​​​​​the Dhanusha District Court had issued an arrest warrant for submitting two citizenships at different institutions.

A complaint was filed at the District Police Office, Dhanusha stating that he has been holding dual citizenship.

Prior to his arrest, Sirohiya issued a statement on Kantipur TV, saying that he was arrested without inquiring about the complaint lodged at the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

Further more, Chairman Sirohiya claimed that he was held for publishing a series of news reports about Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane embezzling millions of rupees from a Pokhara-based cooperative with evidence.

Speaking at the Parliament meeting on Sunday, Home Minister Lamichhane had said that the parliamentary probe committee would not be formed on the basis of news published in the newspaper.
