Barcelona's Dani Olmo scored inside the first minute of the second half to earn a hard-fought 1-0 home win against Mallorca on Tuesday, extending their lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table to seven points with five games to go, Reuters reported.

Barca dominated proceedings despite coach Hansi Flick deciding to rest several key starters ahead of Saturday's Copa del Rey final against rivals Real, but Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman put on a show between the posts to keep them at bay.

Barca finally managed to break the deadlock shortly after the interval thanks to a fine piece of individual skill from Olmo, who took the ball in a tight space inside the box and quickly fired a left-foot shot into the bottom corner before Mallorca's defenders could challenge him.

The win lifted Barca to 76 points at the top of the LaLiga standings with Real, who visit Getafe on Wednesday, seven points adrift with a game in hand, according to Reuters.

Noting that currently there is partial impact of local and westerly winds in the country, the Hydrology and Meteorological Forecasting Division said the country's weather will remain fair today.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has condemned the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 

Taking to the social networking site X, PM Oli has extended deepest condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

"Nepal stands firmly with India and  strongly condemns any and all acts of terrorism", the PM said. 

Close coordination has been established with different agencies to verify reports of a Nepali national among the victims, the PM said, expressing commitment to provide all necessary assistance from the government. 

According to Indian media reports, as many as 26 people, including a Nepali national were killed and 10 others were injured in the attack. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who  arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening in the course of his two-day official visit to Nepal, is scheduled to hold high-level political meetings today.

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharad Singh Bhandari, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and other senior officials of the Ministry received the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister at Tribhuvan International Airport. 

The UAE delegation is holding an official bilateral meeting with the Nepali delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh. according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

DPM Abdullah gas been accompanied by Ahmed Ali Mohamed Al Sayegh, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Saeed Mubarak Rashed Alhajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister for Energy and Sustainability Affairs, Abdulla Jarwan Alshamsi, Ambassador of the UAE to Nepal and other senior officials of the Government of the UAE. 

The DPM-led delegation will return to the UAE in the late afternoon today upon completion of his visit.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Bidhya Bhattarai resigned from her position as Minister for Education, Science, and Technology due to her health issues. 

During his address at an event marking the 76th anniversary of the Nepal Communist Party, the Prime Minister clarified that Bhattarai’s resignation was not a result of any lack of cooperation from his side, as some media reports had suggested.

"I appointed her as the Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, and our cooperation remained strong throughout. I was guiding her," Oli stated. "She resigned citing health issues, and there is no need to create unnecessary propaganda about it," he added.

The Prime Minister also expressed objection over the 'linking' the ongoing visit of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to Bangkok to potential efforts to destabilize the incumbent government. However, Oli reiterated that, as per the bilateral agreement, he would hand over the position of Prime Minister to Deuba after 15 months.

Three minors have died while their mother is battling to survive in a suspected act of mass suicide in Yadukuha of Sahidnagar Municipality-5, Dhanusha.

Sushil Sah's six-year-old son Aditya, four-year-old daughter Aakriti, and two-year-old daughter Aaruti died after reportedly consuming poison.

All three died on the spot while their mother Pabitra Sah is undergoing treatment with ventilator support at the Janakpurdham Provincial Hospital.

The incident took place last night, where the three children died on the spot, while the mother was rescued to be taken to the hospital, shared District Police Office Chief and Senior Superintendent of Police Bhuvaneswar Tiwari.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.

Three Indian and two Chinese students have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and other immigration officials, accusing them of “unilaterally terminating the F-1 student status of hundreds, if not thousands, of international students."

According to the lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) before the US District Court in New Hampshire, the “unilateral and unlawful termination” of F-1 status of the petitioners have put them out of lawful student status, The Hindustan Times reported.

The lawsuit alleged that the students are not only facing immigration detention and deportation, but also going through “severe financial and academic hardship.”

The students have alleged that they are not able to obtain their degrees and work in the Optional Practical Training (OPT) programme after graduation.

The 76th anniversary of the Communist Party of Nepal is being observed, organizing various programs in the country today.

It was Baisakh 9, 2006BS the Communist Party of Nepal was instituted at Shyam Bazaar of Calcutta, India. It was formed under the leadership of Pushpa Lal Shrestha. 

The founding leaders of the party were Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Niranjan Govinda Vaidya, Narayan Bilash Joshi and Moti Devi Shrestha.  Moti Devi was, however, absent during the party announcement. 

Nepal had got a Communist Party  after 102 years of the issuance of communist manifesto and 32 years of the October Revolution.

The aim of the Communist Party established underground was to challenge the tyrannical Rana system and liberate Nepalis from suppression and exploitation. 

There are several communist parties and groups including the CPN-UML, the CPN (Maoist Center), the CPN (Unified Socialist), the Rastriya Janamorcha, the CPN (ML). 

The voices for the unification of Communist Parties  are heard intermittently in Nepal, but concrete realization is elusive. The recent glaring example was the unification of UML and Maoist Center, thereby announcing the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) in 2075BS, which faced debacle soon.

However, the Communist Parties are observing the establishment day organizing various programs. The CPN-UML is holding a special program at Nepal Academy this noon.

Seven persons who contributed to Nepal's communist movement and expansion will be honoured on the occasion. A book 'Shelter' will be released at the event. 

Even the Maoist Center and Unified Socialist are conducting the programs on this occasion.
