Anisimova fights off Noskova challenge to win China Open
Two-time Grand Slam finalist Amanda Anisimova won her second WTA 1000 title of the year on Sunday, brushing off a second-set stumble to beat Linda Noskova 6-0 2-6 6-2 in the China Open final, Reuters reported.
Czech Noskova, who had prevailed in a two-and-a-half hour battle against Jessica Pegula in Saturday's semi-finals , struggled to keep up with Anisimova's power and speed.
"It's been an incredible few weeks... we had a lot of challenges," said Anisimova, who had to withdraw from last month's Korea Open due to an ankle injury, according to Reuters.
Misfiring Barcelona suffer 4-1 loss at Sevilla
Sevilla thrashed Barcelona 4-1 on Sunday, ending the champions' unbeaten start in LaLiga and denying them an opportunity to return to the top of the table, Reuters reported .
Sevilla's first league win over Barcelona since 2015 provisionally lifted them to fourth in the table with 13 points from eight matches. Barcelona remained second with 19 points, two below leaders Real Madrid.
"It's one of the happiest days of my life. We deserved to win from start to finish," said Jose Angel Carmona, who scored Sevilla's third goal, according to Reuters.
Haaland seals narrow win for Man City at Brentford
Erling Haaland scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season to earn Manchester City a laboured 1-0 victory at Brentford which lifted them to fifth in the table on Sunday, Reuters reported.
The Norwegian muscled through to finish in style in the ninth minute to continue his electric start to the season as City extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven.
Pep Guardiola's 250th Premier League win for City should have been more comfortable than it was and he was dealt a potentially significant blow when midfielder Rodri went off injured in the first half, according to Reuters.
Napoli move top with battling 2-1 win over Genoa
Second-half goals from Andre Anguissa and Rasmus Hojlund helped Napoli battle back to earn a 2-1 home win over Genoa on Sunday as the defending champions moved top of the Serie A standings, Reuters reported.
Napoli's perfect start to the league campaign was ended by a 2-1 loss at AC Milan last weekend, and Antonio Conte's side risked a second successive defeat before a spirited fightback, which followed AS Roma's earlier 2-1 win at Fiorentina.
Napoli are on 15 points, ahead of Roma on goal difference, with AC Milan, who are away to Juventus later on Sunday, and Inter Milan both three points behind. Genoa, without a league win, are second from the bottom on two points, according to Reuters.
