Aston Villa finally score, but exit League Cup at Brentford
Aston Villa ended their goal drought but their poor start to the season continued as they were knocked out of the League Cup by top-flight rivals Brentford on penalties on Tuesday after the third-round tie had ended 1-1, Reuters reported.
Harvey Elliott, who joined from Liverpool on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day, put Villa ahead in the 43rd minute, his side's first goal of the season.
Aaron Hickey's first goal for Brentford levelled the tie in the 57th minute although Villa will feel they should have spared themselves penalties by winning in normal time, according to Reuters.
Tudor urges Juventus to stay grounded ahead of Champions League opener
Juventus start their Champions League campaign at home to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, and coach Igor Tudor has warned his players to remain grounded after their dramatic 4-3 victoryover Inter Milan on Saturday, Reuters reported.
That Serie A result delighted the club's supporters but Europe's premier club competition will be a different challenge.
"We played against the strongest team in Serie A in terms of squad potential and we won without playing at our best. That should make us reflect on our real value and what we could have done better," Tudor told reporters on Monday, according to Reuters.
UEFA, FIFPRO urge action on player welfare after Yamal, Dembele injuries

Revolution fire head coach Caleb Porter
The New England Revolution fired head coach Caleb Porter in his second season on Monday, Reuters reported .
The Revolution are 8-14-8 (32 points) and in 11th place in the MLS Eastern Conference. They are 10 points out of the final playoff position in the conference and also failed to qualify for the postseason in Porter's debut season.
The 2024 club tied a franchise record for losses by finishing 9-21-4 (31 points).
Assistant coach Pablo Moreira will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season, according to Reuters.
