Atlanta United sign Barcelona M Adrian Gill

Atlanta United signed American midfielder Adrian Gill through June 2027 with option years through 2029-30, the club announced Tuesday, Reuters reported. 

The 20-year-old Denver native arrives from FC Barcelona, where he started in the fabled club's academy in 2018.

Gill was playing for Barcelona's B team until a loan this season to UE Cornella of Spain's fifth tier, according to Reuters. 

Chelsea urge vigilance after two fans injured ahead of Napoli match

Chelsea urged travelling fans attending Wednesday's Champions League fixture in Naples to remain cautious after two supporters required hospital treatment, Reuters reported. 

The Premier League club did not provide details about the incident or how the injuries occurred.

"Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries," Chelsea said in a statement, according to Reuters. 

CAS grants stay on FIFA ban for seven naturalised footballers, Malaysian association says

Seven naturalised players in Malaysia's national football team have obtained a temporary reprieve from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, halting their 12-month suspension from all football-related activities, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said on Tuesday, Reuters reported. 

FIFA suspended the seven naturalised players for 12 months and fined FAM 350,000 Swiss francs ($439,257) in September last year after finding that doctored documentation had been used to allow the players to participate in an Asian Cup qualifier against Vietnam.

FAM then took the case to CAS after FIFA dismissed its appeal. FIFA said it would launch a formal probeinto the association's internal operations and would notify authorities in five countries of potential criminal proceedings, according to Reuters. 

Senegal's PM calls AFCON final incidents 'deplorable'

The incidents that occurred during the African Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal were "deplorable" and "painful", Senegal's Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko said on Monday, Reuters reported. 

His comments came ahead of possible sanctions by the Confederation of African Football against his national team after Senegal's players walked off the pitch in protest at a VAR-awarded penalty before returning to beat hosts Morocco 1‑0 after extra time.

A group of Senegalese fans clashed with Moroccan security as they tried to enter the pitch in protest following the penalty decision, according to Reuters.
