Arsenal stun Bayern Munich to seize Champions League top spot

Arsenal beat Bayern Munich for the first time in a decade to maintain their 100% record in this season's Champions League with a 3-1 home win sending Mikel Arteta's side clear at the top of the group on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

Jurrien Timber headed Arsenal in front from a corner after 22 minutes only for teenager Lennart Karl to equalise for the six-time European champions before halftime.

Arsenal dominated the second half though and displayed their enviable squad depth as substitutes Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli scored the goals to make it five wins from five, according to Reuters.

PSV Eindhoven stun Liverpool with 4-1 thrashing at Anfield

Liverpool's miserable season hit another low on Wednesday when they slumped to a 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, their first loss in their last 14 games at Anfield in the group stage of Europe's elite competition, Reuters reported.

Couhaib Driouech bagged a double, while Ivan Perisic -- from the penalty spot -- and Guus Til also scored to leave PSV 15th in the Champions League table with eight points. Liverpool, who have lost nine of their last 12 games across all competitions, dropped to 13th on nine points.

The Reds got off to the worst possible start when a bizarre handball from captain Virgil van Dijk led to a PSV penalty in the sixth minute, with Perisic sending Giorgi Mamardashvili the wrong way and slotting home, according to Reuters.

Vitinha shines as PSG come from behind to down Tottenham

A hat-trick by Paris St Germain midfielder Vitinha consigned Tottenham to another defeat, but Thomas Frank's team produced a battling display in defeat, Reuters reported.

Spurs were desperate for a response after Sunday's 4-1 thrashing at Arsenal and twice took the lead in the French capital through Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani.

PSG loanee Kolo Muani grabbed his second against his parent club with 18 minutes left, but Vitinha sealed his treble soon after to end Tottenham's unbeaten run in the Champions League and leave them 15th in the league phase after five fixtures, according to Reuters.
