Nepal ranks 19th in ODI yet again
Nepal has maintained its spot in the One-Day International (ODI) by remaining in the 19th spot in the ranking released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today.
Nepal was ranked 19th last year as well.
According to the new ranking unveiled by the ICC, the world governing body of cricket, New Zealand has remained atop the ranking while England is placed second. India is ranked third.
Likewise, Pakistan is in the fourth, Australia fifth, South Africa sixth and Bangladesh seventh in the ranking. Similarly, Sri Lanka earned eighth position in the ranking while West Indies secured ninth and Afghanistan tenth.
Germany beat Spain to advance into quarter-finals
Eight-time European champions Germany defeated Spain to secure top spot in Group B and avoid a Euro 2022 quarter-final tie with hosts England, BBC reported.
Germany were gifted an early goal when Spanish goalkeeper Sandra Panos' clearance fell straight to Klara Buhl and she scored with a low strike.
Lucia Garcia had a chance to level, but could only shoot into the side netting.
Alexandra Popp, who only returned to action in March after 10 months out with a knee injury, headed in a second.
The Wolfsburg striker had missed both Euro 2013 and Euro 2017 with ankle injuries, but claimed her second goal at these Euros after scoring as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Denmark on Friday.
Pre-tournament favourites Spain play the Danes on Saturday and the winners will finish second and face England in the last eight, while the losers will be eliminated on the head-to-head rule, which is used if teams finish level on points, according to BBC.
If the game ends in a draw, Spain will finish second thanks to a better overall goal difference.
England, aiming to win the tournament for the first time, recorded the biggest victory in the competition's history with an 8-0 thrashing of Norway on Monday to finish top of Group A.
Novak Djokovic beats Nick Kyrgios to win Wimbledon title
Novak Djokovic underlined his recent dominance at Wimbledon with a composed and controlled fightback against Australia's Nick Kyrgios to win a fourth consecutive men's singles title, BBC reported.
Serbia's Djokovic, 35, lost the first set after some superb serving from Kyrgios, but ended up winning 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3) on Centre Court.
It is Djokovic's seventh SW19 men's title and only Roger Federer has more.
Victory also moved him one behind Rafael Nadal's record 22 men's majors.
Top seed Djokovic made a slower start than his 27-year-old opponent, who initially seemed nerveless in his first Grand Slam singles final.
But the Serb did not lose belief as he showed all of his experience and nous to turn the match around.
"He's a bit of a god, I'm not going to lie. I thought I played well," Kyrgios said as he congratulated Djokovic, according to BBC.
Losing his winning position began to irritate Kyrgios, who is known for his fiery temperament as well as his exciting tennis.
While Kyrgios increasingly remonstrated with his support team, Djokovic remained cool in the heat of the battle on a scorching Centre Court.
After clinching victory with his third match point, Djokovic dropped to his haunches and picked a blade of the Centre Court grass to eat in what has now become a customary celebration.
It was a first major win of the year for the Serb, who was stopped from playing in the Australian Open after being deported because of his vaccination status, and lost to Rafael Nadal in the French Open quarter-finals, BBC reported.
Raheem Sterling: Chelsea agree fee with Manchester City for England winger
Chelsea have agreed a fee with Manchester City for England winger Raheem Sterling, BBC reported.
The deal is worth up to £50m including add-ons and Sterling is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge on a five-year contract with an option of further year.
Sterling will need to complete a medical before the deal is announced.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his contract at City and had attracted interest from major clubs overseas.
City signed Sterling from Liverpool in a £49m deal in 2015 and he went on to score 131 goals in 339 games.
Should the deal be completed, Sterling - who has 77 England caps - will become Chelsea's first major signing since they were taken over by a consortium led by Todd Boehly this summer.
It is expected the deal will be done in time for Sterling to link up with the Chelsea squad before they leave for their pre-season tour to the United States next week, according to BBC.
BBC Sport understands decisions by all parties have been amicable but Sterling wants a fresh challenge and was impressed by Blues manager Thomas Tuchel's vision and the role outlined to him.
Other major clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were also interested in Sterling but the player was swayed by Chelsea's public and privately stated desire to sign him.
City wanted Sterling to stay and he has no ill feeling towards the club or manager Pep Guardiola.
However, he views this as the most important contract of his career and wants to play a pivotal role at a club challenging for all the major honours.
Sterling still has team and professional targets he wants to fulfil, including winning the Ballon D'Or.
Apart from Manchester United players, only John Terry and former City team-mate Fernandinho have won more than his four Premier League titles but he is still to win a Champions League.
Sterling instigated the conversation about his future with City and it is understood he appreciates the space he has been given to make his decision, according to BBC.
