A man and his grandson died after being hit by an ambulance in Bardiya on Sunday. Two persons including a woman were injured in the incident.

The ambulance (Lu Ba 0305) was heading towards Rajapur after dropping off a patient when it hit four people walking along the roadside from behind.

The deceased have been identified as Bhumiraj Lamichhane (55) and his seven-year-old grandson Riyans Kharel of Gulariya Municipality-5, DSP Pramesh Bista of the District Police Office, Bardiya said.

Grandmother Sita Lamichhane and Surya Upadhyay were injured in the incident.

The condition of Sita is said to be critical. 

They are receiving treatment at the Nursing home in Nepalgunj.

Police said that they have impounded the ambulance and arrested its driver for investigation.
