EU envoys call on Foreign Minister Khanal

A joint delegation of the EU ambassadors, who arrived in Kathmandu on Monday paid a joint courtesy call on Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, Minister Khanal urged the EU member states to support in removing Nepal’s airspace from EU aviation safety backlist, citing the country’s significant progress and reforms going on in the aviation sector.

In addition, Minister Khanal praised the EU’s continued development partnerships with Nepal, stressing on the need to strengthen cooperation in education, trade, climate actions and more. 

Minister Khanal discussed the economic reforms aimed at facilitating investment, enhancing export competitiveness and promoting innovation. He called on EU countries to invest more in the sectors of hydropower, tourism, infrastructure development and information technology.

EU Ambassador to Nepal Véronique Lorenzo said that the visit was to reaffirm the support of EU member states to the new government and made it clear that the visit is to share EU expertise in e-governance and digitalization with exploring further opportunities for cooperation between Nepal and the EU.
