4 dead, 27 injured in Arghakhanchi bus accident

At least four persons died and 27 others were injured in a bus accident at Pandini Rural Municipality in Arghakhanchi district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Maya Basnet (78) and Bindu Kunwar (78) of Pokhara, Kaski, Kaushula Regmi (50) and Ramesh GC (45) of Modi Rural Municipality in Parbat district, according to Chief of District Police office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Diwas Bahadur GC. 

Two persons died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries at different hospitals. 

The accident took place when the bus (Dha 1 Kha 504) heading towards Parbat from Supa Deurali in Arghakhanchi fell some 100 meters off the road. 

Ramesh GC is the bus driver. 

Most of the passengers are from Modi Rural Municipality, said police.

Similarly, of the injured, the condition of four is reported to be critical. 

All the injured are receiving treatment at Lumbini Medical College, Palpa, and Bhairahawa Medical College. 

Further investigation into the incident is underway. 

A team under the command of DSP GC and locals carried out a rescue operation, said former Chairperson of Pandini Rural Municipality Achyut Gautam.
