RSP leads vote counts under PR system in Surkhet-2

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has led the vote counts in Surkhet- 2 under the proportional representation (PR) system.

According to the Karnali Province Office of the Election Commission, RSP became the first in the constituency by getting 33,699 votes under the PR system. 

Information Officer of the Office, Nandaram Chaulagain, shared that Nepali Congress secured 14,320 votes, CPN-UML got 12,062 votes and Nepali Communist Party obtained 4,289 votes from Surkhet-2.  

Likewise, Shram Sanskriti Party received 2,271 votes and Rastriya Prajatantra Party garnered 2,125 votes.

Of the total 128,467 voters, 73,113 voters cast their votes in the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) held on March 5.  

 

 

RSP's Burlakoti wins from Gorkha-2

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate for the House of Representatives election Kabindra Burlakoti won the House of Representative election from Gorkha-2. 

He achieved 26,660 votes to secure the victory. 

Burlakoti's nearest rival Prakash Chandra Duwadi of the Nepali Congress collected 11,700 votes, according to election officer Mohan Prasad Belbase. 

Similarly, Nepali Communist Party's Lekhnath Neupane got 11,073 votes. He is followed by CPN-UML's Milan Gurung with 3087 votes.

Out of 108,533 voters listed for election, only 57,156 had cast ballots. 

Among the ballots cast, 3,000 voters were invalid, according to the election officer's office.

 

Over 6,000 votes invalid in two constituencies of Tanahun

Over 6,000 votes were invalid in Tanahun district's two constituencies in the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives. 

A total of 6,252 votes were declared invalid in both constituencies. 

The District Election Office, Tanahun informed that although voter education programs were conducted in all wards across the district by mobilizing volunteers, the number of invalid votes could not be minimized. 

Bikash Lamsal, Election Officer in the district, shared that 2,730 votes were found invalid in Tanahun 1, and 3,522 in constituency 2. 

Constituency 1 had a total of 126,882 voters of which 68,149 votes were cast. Among them, 65,419 votes were valid. 

Likewise, out of 66,100 votes cast in constituency 2, altogether 62,579 votes were valid. 

Election Officer Lamsal said that the votes were invalid due to various reasons such as multiple markings on the ballot paper, stamping in the wrong place and submitting blank ballot papers. 

 

 

 

 

RSP's Pokharel wins in Bardiya-2

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Shreedhar Pokharel has won election to the House of Representatives from Bardiya-2..

He collected 29,678 votes to secure victory. 

His nearest rival Kishor Singh Rathaur of the Nepali Congress collected 20,400 votes.

Similarly, Suresh Panth of the Nepali Communist Party got 19,180 votes and CPN-UML's Bimala BK got 10,772 votes.

A total of 92,618 votes were cast in this constituency, among which, 4,488 votes were invalid, according to election officer Bishnu Prasad Ghimire.

 

Old guard leaders fail to make thru the elections

The results of the House of Representatives (HoR) elections under the first-past-the-post electoral system are in the final stage, which show a landslide victory for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). 

In the HoR elections held on March 5, the top leaders of the established political parties lost the election, while voters poured in their massive support to the RSP. 

The RSP faced the election by forwarding its senior leader and former mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah as the prime ministerial candidate. 

As per the results, the RSP is heading to gain two-thirds majority seats in the next parliament. 

As of now, the RSP has gained 119 seats out of 165 seats under the direct election system. Similarly, the party has gained massive votes under the proportional electoral system.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress has won 17 seats, while UML and the Nepali Communist Party have won seven seats each under the direct electoral system.

The NC, the largest political party in the erstwhile parliament, has suffered massively and its top leaders have lost the election.  

NC President Gagan Kumar Thapa, general secretaries Pradip Paudel and Gururaj Ghimire, joint general secretaries Pharmullah Mansoor, Udaya Shumsher Rana and Prakash Rasaili Snehi lost the March 5 HoR election.

Likewise, senior leaders Shekhar Koirala, Bimalendra Nidhi, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, NP Saud, Mahalaxmi Upadhyay 'Dina' and other leaders too could not win the election.

CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, vice chairs Gokarna Bista, Prithvi Subba Gurung and Bishnu Prasad Paudel, general secretary Shankar Pokhrel, assistant general secretaries Raghubir Mahaseth and Lekhraj Bhatta, secretaries Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Serdhan Rai, Mahesh Basnet and Dr Rajan Bhattarai also lost the election in their constituencies.  

UML's senior leaders Ishwar Pokhrel, Devraj Ghimire and Pradip Kumar Gyawali too also come in the same page of those being defeated. 

In the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), its Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal won the election from Rukum East but other top leaders including Madhav Kumar Nepal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Bhim Rawal, Mahindra Raya Yadav, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Shakti Basnet and Devendra Paudel were defeated from the contenders, mostly from the RSP candidates. 

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden, senior vice chairman Rabindra Mishra and senior leader Kamal Thapa also witnessed a defeat in the election. 

Surprisingly, Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party, which had continuously won the election from Bhaktapur lost the polls in Bhaktapur for the first time since 2048 BS. 

Likewise, all the top leaders and the entire competitors of the Madhes-based political parties including Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato, CK Raut, Prabhu Shah and others lost the election.

 

RSP candidate Thapa victorious in Sunsari-2

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Lal Bikram Thapa won the election to the House of Representatives from Sunsari 2.

Thapa secured victory with 57,348 votes, according to Rajendra Kumar Lamsal, an election officer. 

His closest contender was Nepali Congress' Rajiv Koirala who obtained 16,071 votes. 

Similarly, Sujan Lama of the Nepali Communist Party stood third with 8,303 votes while Chetan Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party got 7,484 votes.

Altogether 28 candidates including those of 19 political parties and nine independent ones were in electoral fray in this constituency. 

The constituency comprising 30 wards had listed 158,910 voters for the election. Among them, 101,004 cast their votes in the March 5 election. 

 

 

HoR poll results: Results of 155 constituencies published so far, RSP wins 119 seats till 5 pm

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the election to the House of Representatives in 119 constituencies so far. 

As per the result updated at 5 pm, RSP candidates are maintaining their lead in six constituencies, according to the Election Commission. 

Out of the results of 155 constituencies published so far, the Nepali Congress (NC) candidates were elected in 17 constituencies.

Similarly, the CPN-UML has won seven seats and is leading in three constituencies. 

The EC reported that seven candidates of the Nepali Communist Party have won the election so far. 

Likewise, the Shram Sanskriti Party has emerged victorious in three constituencies while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and an independent candidate secured victory in one constituency each. 

Under the proportional representation (PR) system, vote counting has crossed over 4.53 million till 5 pm, according to the Commission. 

Out of 4,530,913 votes counted so far, the RSP is leading with 2,239,870 votes. The Nepali Congress followed with 760,485 votes. 

The CPN-UML has received 646,770 votes while the Nepali Communist Party got 304,063 votes, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party 163,151 votes and Shram Sanskriti Party 107,032 votes.

 

RSP's Gauri Kumari elected in Mahottari-4

Gauri Kumari of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected from Mahottari 4 under the House of Representatives election.

According to Chief Election Officer Madhav Prasad Adhikari, as per the vote count concluded today in constituency 4, Gauri Kumari secured victory by receiving 30,132 votes.

The office of the Chief Election Officer stated that her competitor, Surendra Kumar Yadav, candidate of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), received 8,745 votes, Nilam Adhikari of the CPN-UML secured 6,944 votes, and Mahendra Kumar Rai of the Nepali Congress got 6,192 votes.
